Yeah, I think that sounds fine.

You know how in fairy tales, characters will encounter random old ladies, and either do them a favor or just act like a dick towards them? At which point the old lady throws off her disguise to reveal she's a fairy or goddess or witch or something. And then she blesses or punishes the mortal, depending on how he treated her. I want to do something like that, with an Irish myth twist.
Hey, Applelight, is there any particular deity or figure from Irish myth who would most plausibly pull off the Goddess Incognito motif?

I want to do something like that, with an Irish myth twist. Hey, Applelight, is there any particular deity or figure from Irish myth who would most plausibly pull off the Goddess Incognito motif? There is one goddess, Aine who is (very) badly mistreated and eventually gets her revenge, but in her story she wasn't in any disguise and her abuser knew exactly who she was to begin with. This story involves the idea in Irish mythology that to be king you must be physically perfect (no deformities or amputations), so a good way to ruin somebody's ability to take the throne is to chop off their hand/ear etc. There is also Macha Mong Ruad, Macha Red Mane, the only high queen of Ireland, who disguised herself as a leper to take down and enslave her fathers cousins to claim the throne. There's no examples of a goddess rewarding somebody for being nice to them whilst disguised that I can find. Are those of any use to you?

Macha Mong Ruad sounds great. Actually, at the moment, I'm leaning towards just telling the fairy tale without giving anyone names—so it's just "the princess", "the goddess", etc.—but if I do give them names, then Macha's the one I'll use.

How plausible is this AU idea?
Sonic Rainboom never happens. Filly Twilight doesn't hatch Spike's egg, so she assumes the worst and thinks she won't be accepted into Celestia's school. She gets so freaked out about this, a few days later she runs away from home. She runs into Starlight Glimmer. Glimglam is a young adult at this point, has just worked out her Equalist philosophy—and sees young, blank-flank Twilight as a perfect test case. Fast forward a few years: Glimmy is the cult leader of Our Town, and Twi is her surrogate daughter and faithful student.
(Meanwhile, Moondancer slots almost perfectly into Twilight's canon role. So the world doesn't go to hell because Moondancer and the Elements of Harmony keep saving it.)

I already replied to this on the TVT thread, but there are two main issues I see with it:
1. I'm not sure how much Moondancer could fill Twilight's role.
2. I don't think Starlight is noticeably older than Twilight. Like maybe a year or two older, but not old enough for her to act as a parent.
Both of those issues could be written around though.

So I doubt many of you remember but last year I did a little work on a Persona and Gravity Falls fusion, very odd idea I know. Well, since I have some time off now I think I might do something with it, but there is something that'd like a bit of input with.
You see there are somethings that happened in Persona that I don't think would be appropriate if it was done by the characters of Gravity Falls (particularly the younger characters like Dipper and Mabel). Originally I was just not going to have them do it, but I was recently toying with the idea of aging up some of the characters to be more in line with the characters of Persona. It would certainly open up some interesting possibilities but I'm not sure if it's a smart thing to do or if the audience would be receptive to it.

I don't know much about GF and definitely can't speak for the fandom at large. But just to take my thoughts on underaged characters and generalize from those:
In general, I don't think there's a problem with focusing on aged-up characters and letting them have sex lives, as long as your depiction is respectful and not prurient about it. (I'll admit that's a pretty vague, "I know it when I see it" criteria.) But how were you planning to handle the age-up in your AU? Were you planning to bump everyone's age up by the same amount of time—or make the kids older but keep everyone else the same as in canon? Because the latter choice could come across kind of skeevy.

I actually wasn't planning on the characters engaging in anything sexual, despite how I made it sound. It had to do with a specific aspect of Persona where in one of the games the characters activated their special powers by . . . well . . . by essentially shooting themselves in the head. It makes sense in the context of the game, I swear.
Either way I wasn't to sure about how believable having the younger characters do that would be plus it would be rather off putting as well, but I felt like aging them up would both make it more palatable and make the fusion seem much more smooth since the Gravity Falls would be teenagers like (most of) the characters in Persona.
As for how it would be done I would just make all the characters four years older. It makes the younger characters more appropriately aged (the protagonist would be 16 instead of 12) and the older characters would be pretty much unaffected.

Oh, yeah, I've heard about that. Where the thing that lets you access the otherworld looks exactly like a handgun, and you have to put it to your head and pull the trigger. I think the best way to make that palatable to audiences who aren't already familiar with Persona would be to have the younger characters also unfamiliar with that particular mechanic. So we can see their initial shocked reaction to the idea, then they (and by extension the audience) can be reassured they aren't blowing their brains out.
Ooooor you could tone it down to something that would fit better in a kid's cartoon. Say, instead of a handgun, make it a squirt gun or a nerf gun.
