Okay, I know I'm doubleposting, but I figured I'd leave this here: I just finished a silly oneshot about Cadance getting drunk and making out with Vinyl Scratch after mistaking her for Shining Armor. If anybody wants to look it over that would be great.

@meta: I just thought of a sequel to your Pinkie fic: In "Putting Your Hoof Down", Iron Will winks at the camera, implying that he can see the fourth wall as well.

Just a quick question; Do you guys think it's ok to use names and concepts that are already in existence? Especially if you've searched long and hard for alternatives but none are available? See, I want to create a unicorn speedster for my story, called Quicksilver. But the Xmen movies beat me too it. Also, I'm using Chuck from the angry birds movie as inspiration too. I've tried searching for other names but I can't find any decent ones. What do you guys think? Should I keep trying or is this is acceptable? I know it's not exactly original but honestly I literally can't think of a better name to match the concept.

Applelight: I can't comment on "using names and concepts that are already in existence" in general. It's a case-by-case basis thing. As for that specific case: perhaps instead, quicksilver's modern name—Mercury. Which also references the Roman god of messengers and travelers. Jteeth: I'll have to stick that in the big box of ideas. Not sure what kind of plot I can get from it, but who knows. EDIT: Also, I made those changes to ch 3 of Den Fjerde Væg, to lengthen Pinkie and Maud's scene. Link.

@apple: What Meta said, basically. I was actually going to suggest the Mercury thing, but he beat me to it.

That's a great suggestion guys, thank you. How does 'Mercurial' sound?

If I remember correctly, pony names are usually noun forms. You'd have to tack something else on to Mercurial to make it sound right.

Yeah, I thought so. This is what I mean...Quicksilver is perfect...but it's taken.

How about Mercury Rising?

Sorry for the late reply. That's a good suggestion Mezzaphor. Although the name might hold things up I'm happy that basically got the concept nailed out.
Also, I was happy to hear that bit from twilight in the season five opener, that all friendships hold equestria together. It makes me feel better about my own team. They can still be important heroes in their own right.
What do you think of this btw; if the speedster pony has a mercurial personality (going from raging mad to happy in a split second...like pinkie pie I suppose) the other unicorn in the team (the 'green lantern' one) could have a more mellow and spacey personality to contrast.

Another weird idea that came to me in a dream:
Police are investigating Spike's spending habits (because he was suddenly super-rich in this dream, like he won the lottery or something): he's throwing his money around in weird ways, so they suspect he's laundering money or doing something illegal on the stock market or something. Then the police interrogate Spike's financial manager (because Spike is apparently rich enough to need one), who assures them that Spike is not a white-collar criminal. He's just a kid with poor impulse control and access to too much money.
"And what about that time he bought 500 Junior Speedster brand scooters, causing the Junior Speedster stock prices to soar?"
"When he got home, he tried to ride all 500 of them. When he realized that one person can only use 20 scooters, at most, I convinced him to donate the rest to charity."

@applelight: That sounds like it could work.
@meta: Do it. That sounds like it would be really amusing.

@ JT
Thanks. It's coming together nicely.
I'm getting an angle too. Although the guys are looking for a treasure, and have their own individual dreams, they'll be accomplishing so much good in the world whilst pursuing them it won't matter if they get them or not. Everything from rescuing stranded people to busting slave operations (I'm ok putting that in now after the season five finale showed that FIM can get dark when it won't stop).
@ meta
Do it!
Btw, I can't remember what tread we where talking about c.s Lewis sci fi work but I have to check it out. It sounds like good inspiration for me.

I'm not sure if it's quite the same type of thing you're aiming to write, but it is interesting stuff. ;p

Hey, my speedster unicorn? If I want to be more original, think I should use a star themed name like, Shooting Star, Comet, Meteor, something like that?
