Mezzaphor: Ooh, I might have to use that. Maybe for Fluttershy, as I'm not sure what to do with her. It could factor into her issues with attention. And it could be bizarre and dream-logicy because it's not just spiders leaving webs everywhere. @apple: Ooh, that would be good. Any ideas for what I could do for RD?

Hmmm, RD is a tricky one. Does it have to be a world that's all crazy or would a situation where it's RD who's a mess work?

@jteeth: Yeah, I think that's a good fit for Fluttershy. I like the idea that Spike finds the webs creepy because of the spiders themselves, while Flutters finds them creepy because, out of the corner of her eye, the masks all look like real ponies staring at her. And masks are also used to hide one's identity, tying in with Flutters' issue of hiding from other ponies.
For Dash, I want to suggest something that would test her loyalty, but it's tough coming up with something that isn't a rehash of what the show already did. Maybe: Ponyville and Cloudsdale have declared war on each other, and it plays out as a massive food fight. All the citizens of both cities are replaced with empty clothes and suits of armor.

That sounds like a good idea for RD to me.

Mezzaphor: Well, it's not exactly meant to ''test'' them. The basic idea is that they've basically been trapped, and I want each dream to reflect the idea that they've been backed into a corner by the things they fear, but it's only evident in an oblique way. For example, Pinkie's dreamscape is effectively an empty desert with nobody around, friend or foe, and she herself is hiding. It would play off her need for attention and how she'd be trapped in a dead-end existence with no one to interact with. Or with Rarity's, she feels trapped by the expectations of her clientele and her inability to live up to her own standards, hence the cage. I really like the Fluttershy idea though; whenever she tries to escape the attention she gets stuck both literally and figuratively. The Rainbow Dash idea is interesting, but I think it might be a little too on-the-nose. It's also pretty similar to what Discord pulled on her as well as the conflict in "Rainbow Falls". Although it does give me a similar idea, only rather than playing off of her loyalty it plays off her self-esteem issues: she's constantly chased by some sort of entity (maybe a shadowbolt or something) that she can outrun, but only just barely, so she constantly flees from it to the point of exhaustion. It would stem from her need to constantly prove herself. On a different note, I started on the first chapter. I really think it needs more of a hook to get the reader interested, but I can't think of anything. Any ideas?

Puppet stand ins for her friends made out of twigs and rocks etc.

To tie into Dash's self-esteem and competitiveness: make a setting that's half sports and half Daring Do. Like, she's galloping along a racetrack that cuts through the jungle, and suddenly there are buzzsaw hurdles and pits full of quicksand or alligators. And then with no warning, she's playing another game, say American football—so she's carrying the ball across the field, dodging attacks by wild animals and animated sports equipment. The gameplay keeps changing with no warning, like the world's deadliest Calvinball match, but Dash rolls with it every time. She insists there will be dire consequences if she doesn't win the game, but she can't explain what those consequences are, and Spike can't see any other competitors.

Also, I dare you to work in a SBAHJ reference at some point.
In Rainbow Dash’s dream, she is the star. It’s her.

Yeah that would be a great idea!
Meanwhile, does anyone know any good Crystal Pony names?

I wish we had more information about bat ponies, I really do. See I'm writing now that the team in my fic will be four strong (because that seems to be the ideal number for all male groups of friends), which means one of each of the regular tribes lead by one of the unusual ones. I would like that to be a bat pony but I just don't know enough about them. They could be a separate tribe, or a magical effect. And since I want my story to be as true to canon as possible, I'm reluctant to start writing my own stuff, only to have a possible future episode or comic come along and undo it. The other alternative I guess is to use a Crystal Pony as the leader (appropriate since they've all been out of the loop for a long time, which would be a good motive for one to go see the world) but I'm not as interested in them as bat ponies. It's a problem for me because the story will obviously depend upon who and what the lead is. In the meantime, I've been writing away on the three amigos (the normal pony tribe companions) and they're coming along nicely, but I won't bore you guys with them as we've been over them so many times before. EDIT: Can I say too thank god for Penguins Of Madagascar too. Not only does it look funny, the team are also similar to what I'm trying to build here in pony form. It's pretty inspiring.

Ehhh, how many seasons has it been since they introduced the batponies? And how much more have we learned since then? I think if the showrunners wanted to revisit the batponies, they'd have done it already. I doubt we're going to ever get more canon information about them, so I say put it out of your mind and write whatever you want.
