A darn good episode, I think. The writers showed that they can make a compelling two-part adventure story without cranking the stakes up to Tirek levels.
There's a scene in part 1 that made me immediately think of you, Applelight.

I heard. I'm waiting for the YouTube video to appear but I hear it's a great start to the season.

There's a scene in part 1 that made me immediately think of you, Applelight. Oh yes. You'll particularly like this scene, Apple. I'll need to watch this episode again before I can fully absorb it. I won't spoil it for Apple or others who may not have seen it yet.

I especially liked how the rest of the villagers get to be the ones who save the day, once the truth comes out. Twilight and her friends aren't just being awesome on their own, but they're inspiring other ponies to be awesome, too.

How long does 'the scene' go on for?

How long does 'the scene' go on for? What you'll consider the best part lasts just a few seconds, but there's a nice buildup.

Cool.
But, enough of my perversions. I'm just happy that the episode is apparently great.
EDIT: guys it's up!

Apparently there's some confusion over the episode name. The promotional material gave the name "Cutie Markless", but episode one had a missing title, and episode two was titled "The Cutie Map - Part Two". Weird.

Wait, what are they supposed to be called?

Right up until last night, I was still seeing the title as "Cutie Markless". It seems the change to "The Cutie Map" was literally done at the last minute.

Well, the premise of the episode was interesting. It's too bad that the execution really wasn't that interesting.
It's not even that the episode was necessarily bad. It's just kind of. . .meh.

Thanks Syd. That'll do much better than mine. I can't wait to get watching this. I'll post live reactions too.

Looks like more of that EP strength kicking in. * Is it just me or does AJ sound deeper than usual? * These ponies are weirdoes. * There she is, Starlight Glimmer. She's a bad 'un, I can tell. * Skepticjack. * OMG, they're commies! * That was a very unladylike noise you just made Rarity. * ...what if you don't like muffins? * And there it is...the whole fat Pinkie bit. I know it was unpleasant for her but I loved it. A lot. * This sounds like a weird cult. * Holy shit, she just tore their marks right off their flanks! * This is some straight up 1984 bullshit! * 'Laughs don't come in barrels...'. I love serious Pinkie...I love Pinkie in general. * It's Fluttershy, Chimney Commando, to the rescue. * STARLIGHT'S A HYPOCRITE! * Viva revolucion!

I thought that episode was pretty great. I agree with what Meta said; it was nice that they helped somebody else save the day rather than just pulling out the friendship cannon.
And yeah, the town basically is a weird cult.
