EDIT: I'm going to put links to all the docs in this post so that it's easier to find them. Right now it's not a problem, but if I do many more it would be a pain to look them up in the thread.
Yeah, so I decided to go and start watching through all the movies in the Disney Animated Canon, and do a sort of psuedo reaction/liveblog thing. With pictures! It's going to take me like fifteen years to watch and write up everything, but at least it'll give me something to do.

You call Snow White "Twilight" at one point -- I think it's when she sings the "Someday My Prince Will Come" reprise at the dwarfs' house.

...This is why I shouldn't bounce back and forth between projects every five minutes. But yeah, I'm still figuring out where I want these reactions to be on the snark/analysis spectrum.

Well if it takes you fifteen years so be it. I'll be here all the way.

Wonder how many movies there'll be in 15 years. Anyway, should I lean more toward serious analysis or snark? Or both?

Average one every 2 years...seven? But anyway, I do enjoy snark, so if you want to use that I'd support it.

Duly noted. Also, seriously, the Queen's plan sucks. Why go to the trouble of brewing complicated potions, when you could just club her when her back is turned?

Because then the animators wouldn't get to draw an old hag.
Seriously, drawing ugly people is super fun.

Weren't Snow White and the Prince rotoscoped rather than hand-drawn? EDIT: Okay, Wikipedia tells me they shot live-action footage but mostly used it as a reference; only a few scenes were rotoscoped.
I was always impressed with those scenes with the forest animals. There's so many of them, and they're all individually animated. You can watch those crowd scenes over and over and notice something new every time.

Seriously, the Dwarfs and the animals were all way more interestingly animated than the actual human characters. And the Queen is way more memorable once she puts on her disguise. In general, watching it was kinda odd since it's so... I guess "minimal" would be the best word. There's very little character content, and Grumpy is the only character who undergoes a noticeable amount of character development. And the pacing is a bit wonky as well. It's not a bad movie by any means, but you can tell that this was their first swing at a feature-length story.
I've started watching Pinocchio, and it's astounding how much more modern it feels. Snow White isn't bad, but Pinocchio just shows them hitting their groove. It's way easier (for me at least) to get invested in the characters.

That review was amusing. Looking forward to Pinocchio. And I'd say I'm fond of snark, though I like the setup you have currently.
Never noticed the queen had a peacock as part of her throne before, though, so, huh.

I thought that it was a nice touch to really drive in her vanity. It's her defining personality characteristic, after all. I'll probably bump the snark up a little bit for the next one, but I'll still leave the analysis in. That stuff is fun to write. Glad you enjoyed the first one, at least.

How else is the Queen supposed to watch Game of Thrones?
