You could have the rest of the mane six and the CMC fill the "seven" role... if the rest keep forgetting about one of them, thinking she's just a background pony.

Or it could be the other mane 5, Spike, and the CMC constantly fighting over the last spot.

The vain and evil Queen would be played by Trixie, of course.

Or Chrysalis, to fit with the shapeshifting thing. Trixie isn't subtle enough to disguise herself.
"THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE WANTS YOU TO BUY A- WAIT. THAT IS WHAT THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE WOULD SAY IF SHE WERE HERE, WHICH SHE ISN'T. I AM NOT HER, THOUGH SHE DOES SOUND LIKE THE BEST UNICORN."

Just read it JT. Just fantastic! That line ''this is what happens when you play hooky!'' had me in stitches, and was the crowner of a funny entertaining essay. Well done!

Thanks. I had a lot of fun snarking at the odd aspects of the setting. Like how there are random talking animals everywhere and absolutely nobody ever comments on this being the least bit unusual. In other news, I'm currently throwing together a quick review of Snow White, which I'll also post once it's done. The liveblogging is fun, but this gives me a shot to do a little more analysis.

sereg: Thanks. In other news, I also wrote a review of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I really hope I didn't come across as too harsh, because I found it to really suffer a nasty case of Seinfeld Is Unfunny due to the fact that literally every other animated movie since then takes so many cues from it. It's not a bad movie by any means, but it's really hard to watch it as anything other than the historical value, because when it comes to how entertaining it is, it really shows that it's one of Disney's first efforts. It's doubly evident because I just watched Pinocchio, which in my mind improved on pretty much everything that Snow White did. Anyway, for this one, it would be cool if people left actual comments on it, because it's a slightly more serious attempt at analysis and it would be cool to know if there's anything I could improve. In particular, I feel like I might've gotten a bit repetitive in this one.

Reading over it, my only real comment is though it's different, I dunno if I'd call The Little Mermaid 'heavy modification.'
Overall, fair points and it didn't really seem harsh to me. I personally enjoy the movie, though I tend to be easily entertained.

Well, it's modified in that Ariel's characterization is a bit different, and the ending is changed up quite a bit. That said, it's been quite a while since I really compared it with the original.

True. Heavy just sounds a bit heavy for that to me.

All that stuff about Pleasure Island is interesting because, if you peel away the fantasy embellishments, it boils down to, "If you spend your time drinking, smoking, and playing pool instead of studying, you'll wind up stuck in a life of menial labor." Which was apparently a message the kids actually needed back when the book was written.

Also, for Twi White and the Seven Whatever, the evil queen needs to ask her mirror, "Magic mirror on the wall... who is best pony?"

I'm more curious about how the heck the Coachman manages to keep the racket going. I mean, running the place must cost a ton, and he pays Honest John and Gideon a stupid amount of gold just bring Pinocchio over. Is the donkey market in this setting so lucrative that he can afford to run a free amusement park that literally gives away food, tobacco, and booze?
