Quick update:
Not five minutes into the Argentinian Nigerian match, it's already 1-1. Great match so far!

I'm surprised how much support Argentina is getting from the audience. Usually everyone's aganist them. Must be the close proximity to the Argentine boarder.
Also the match is 2-1 in favor of Argentina. Courtesy of Messi of course.
Also, these FIFA "Together We Fight Match Manipulation" commercials are hilarious.

I haven't seen these commercials. What do they say?

The message is what's hilarious, the commercial itself opens with a question, "is this fair", then there is an animation of a football trying to get to the otherside of the field while avoiding flags and the shifting ground. It can not get to the other side until a flag labeled FIFA and a bunch of country flags drop down to literally level the playing field.
Also two goals in the first few minutes, making it 2-3 for Argentina. The commentator's comment of "raining goals" is apt.

Why can't more soccer games have that many goals? ;p

In contrast, France and Ecuador end their game at 0-0, which sadly does not allow Ecuador to advance since Switzerland slaughtered Honduras 3-0.

I mean it from the bottom of my heart but, Germany are just dangerous. There's no shame in a loss tonight.

At least we won't have to worry about a biter giving one of our players rabies.

Well it's the half and it's 0-0 for Germany and the USA. Can I just say that despite it being even score wise that we are obviously the lesser of the two teams on the pitch today? Any victory is probably going to come down more to luck and good timing then skill.
On a related subject Portugal is currently up against Ghana 1-0 (on an own goal no less), which is good for the US prospects of advancement.

If you draw and Portugal draw you're threw yes?

Even if we lose there is a good chance we can advance as long as we don't loss too badly and Portugal doesn't win massively (which is extremely doubtful).
A draw against Germany assures our advancement, regardless of the other game's results.

Those are some pretty good odds actually.
