Relistened to Armed Forces by Elvis Costello & the Attractions. It's a definite grower. It doesn't grab me like This Year's Model did (and even that one didn't click until my second listening) but it's got some solid songs. I find myself liking it more with every listen.

Thanks for alerting me to the PSP boys Mezza. I'm enjoying The Pop Kids as I type.

Okay, I can safely say that Iron Maiden still have it, even after 40 years of performing. After listening to their latest album a few times, I think it's right up there with the best of their 80's material. "Empire of the Clouds" could very well be one of their best songs. I'd link it here, but it's almost 20 minutes long (though worth ever minute), so I'll leave this here instead. It's still pretty long, but it's epic. It really kicks off about a minute and a half in:

Yeah, so I was listening to Soundgarden's Superunknown today. Pretty great.
Here's the video for the title track, starring PS1-era CGI:

I haven't really listened to much of either, so I have no idea what that combo would sound like.
@apple: Yeah, that whole album is really good.

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, I listened to Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, Mariachi El Bronx, and Chalino Sánchez.

I've been listening to Ayreon's Into the Electric Castle. It's a prog rock concept album, which means it's very weird, but in a good way. Here's the first half of it:

gileahtaylor.bandcamp.com/album/songs-for-late-at-night-vol-1Have I talked about Gileah Taylor on here before? She's an independent musician from Florida. Her songwriting reminds me of Eisley or Coldplay, but I really like her better than either of them. What's strange is how, for someone who hasn't put out too many albums in the grand scheme of things, she certainly does her best to stop fans from keeping track of her. Like, the keeps changing what name she releases albums under: "Gileah", "Gileah and the Ghost Train", "Gileah Taylor", "You Are Golden", and "Chris & Gileah" (for a duet album with her husband). And she has some kind of internet-based attention deficit disorder where every time she records a new album, she abandons whatever social media outlet she was using five years prior, abandons her old website, and builds a new one from the ground up. So when she writes about her discography, there's no guarantee that the story isn't full of holes. Case in point: that link above is to the first album she ever recorded, all the way back from 2000. I don't know if this is the first official release, or if it's a re-release. Because I've been following Gileah since 2007 or so, and this is the first I've ever heard of this album. I always thought The Golden Planes (2005) was her debut. Anyway, the new old album sounds nice. And apparently she's working on an actually new followup to it, so that's exciting. And I see you can still download Gileah and the Ghost Train (my favorite of her albums) bundled with a double-EP (that's almost as good) completely for free here: noisetrade.com/chrisandgileah/gileah-and-the-ghost-train UPDATE: Her actually new album is out (or at least it's available to download to anyone who preordered it). Songs for Late at Night Vol. 2 has a mix of acoustic guitars and ambient synths. All her previous albums were beautiful throughout, with a handful of songs with enough verve to rise above the rest and grab ahold of me on the first listen. This new one doesn't have any standouts. It's very laid-back all the way through, but it's still beautiful, and the songs are growing on me with each listen.

I've been on a 90s R & B binge myself lately. It's the weather probably.

Ooh nice, I'll have to look into that. I think I've heard of that before but never had a chance to listen to it.
