Well, he did go out of his way to traumatize all of them, and later on he sold them to Tirek, and he's kind of a jackass even on the best of days, so I can't say I wouldn't be suspicious.

Considering how often the others are RIGHT when they assume Discord's up to something, I don't think there's too much danger of him taking offense. Unless he's a worse hypocrite than we think: "Why don’t these ponies (who I'm actively trying to trick RIGHT NOW) trust me more?"
Honestly, I was a bit surprised that Twilight just let Discord off with a verbal warning ("Just keep that thing under control!") when Discord was ALREADY disrupting the Gala.
Really, Discord needs to try harder on his end before he can fault the mane six for not holding up their end.

I have to agree with Mezza on this one. I think he wants to be their friend but he's still so messed up he doesn't realize the correct way to go about it.

I dunno. Even though I agree on a conscious level, something about it just feels wrong regardless. On a lighter note, I think there may be some basis for a Celestia/Discord ship at the end of the episode.
