I thought this one was brilliant! There was so much going on here. All the references (G1, The Shinning, Dumb & Dumber). I thought that there was a tonne of good humor in it (Maud made it) and I loved both happy Tia and Tree Hugger. Seriously, Tree Hugger turned out to be a far better character than I thought she'd be. And I saw Pinkie talking to Pokie, so that's a thing. I'm also glad of glad to see Discords dangerous side again...and his house. But mostly the first. Shows that he's still got a long way to go, and that he's still a threat too.

This had jokes. Jokes are my favorite.
I've got mixed thoughts about the episode. Discord's hurt feelings, and the passive-aggressive way he lashes out in response to them, were a bit too uncomfortable for me to laugh at. But everything else about the episode was gold. Most of the mane six had great character moments. Tree Hugger was hilarious, and not as shallow as she seemed at first. That last line of hers, "I need to recharge my chakras before I can hug you from a place of authenticity"... I love it. And there were so many good sight gags at Discord's house.
I've never seen the G1 Smooze, but I like how they portrayed him here as a dog that hasn't been house-trained, rather than a monster.
And yes, Maud was wonderful.

...and the Genie from "Aladdin". Wasn't expecting to see Maud in this episode, then I remembered the card saying she always wanted to go to the Gala. I've never seen Celestia that excited. Tree Hugger was righteous.

I think we can now trust those cards. And I thought you'd like that line Mezza.

I loved Rarity's "Oh, Sweet Celestia! I'm naked!" moment. Human versions of this scene ahoy! Oh, is that what she was saying? Hasbro needs to do the Smooze toys right (if they do them). Squishy and malleable Smooze; hard plastic isn't going to work with him.

I liked that Rarity bit too. This episode might actually have been the funniest one of the season so far! As for the Realm Of Chaos...who thinks Discord made it? Or did it make him?

I basically agree with Meta. Discord's whole "passive aggressive possessiveness" thing was a bit awkward, but pretty much everything else in the episode was great. Tree Hugger was hilarious, Rarity's "AHH I'm naked" moment, Celestia inviting Discord solely to troll the gala, Maud having a cameo and giving Discord a sick burn; tons of awesome stuff.

Oh, is that what she was saying? I probably misremembered the exact wording, but she definitely said something along those lines. Hippie-speak for "I'm really pissed at you right now. Leave me alone for a bit." Tree Hugger seemed completely unflappable, but even the mellowest pony in Equestria has her limits, apparently.

Especially when they were going to be chucked into the sock puppet dimension. Seriously though, Tree Hugger is cool. And they met over the Breezies which is nice. I also loved her animal power. It succeeded where even Tia and Twilight failed. Nice to see an EP save the day! @ JT Yeah, that burn. What a burn. Maud is vicious!

Not to mention that since Fluttershy is a tree, Tree Hugger's name is a DoubleEntendre.

Jason Thiessen calls the sock puppet "Senior Huevos". Which is absurd for two reasons. First, "Senior" instead of SeƱor. Second, "Huevos" is Spanish for eggs... but it's also Spanish slang for testicles.

Which may or may not be intentional.

Now I get why he said he hopes no one is offended. Another funny bit in the episode was Discord getting Fluttershy to recount that story, and she does with the silliest blank face she's ever pulled. This episode really was a comedy goldmine. EDIT: This silly face right here:

That expression looked familiar when I first saw it, but I couldn't figure out where I'd seen it before until someone put it side-by-side with the awkward seal meme.
Something I find a bit worrying is how often hostility is the first reaction to Discord's presence, particularly in the case of most of the Mane 6. Sure, he's had a long history of pulling crazy shenanigans, but at least wait until he's actually done something before getting upset at him for it?
