Seriously, everyone is like "WHY DIDN'T THEY BOOOOOOKKKKKK?" and I'm like "They literally said in the episode that the castle has a library." The only bit of that complaint I can see is how they specifically had everyone mention books as a solution and then go do something else without explaining why they didn't use the books, but that's a really minor issue. As I said before, the writers could have fixed that if they'd just followed up the "Books books books BOOKS" with somepony pointing out, "But she already has a new library! What's wrong with those books?" "Well, maybe it's not the books she misses..."

Well, they did mention it offhand, but yeah, one or two lines about it would've gone a long way.

I still don't think what they did makes much sense unless we are literally back season one. Even if "turn the whole castle into a library" was ultimately not a good idea it would still make more sense then what they did do first.
I'm genuinely surprised people weren't bothered by that more.

Oh, that bugged me, but I'd rather focus on what I liked than on what I disliked.

That seems kind of disingenuous.

Yes, of course. One of the basic principles of mental resilience and stress management is "disingenuous".

When it comes to what you think about media? . . .yeah, kinda.

Yeah, I'm not seeing why focusing on the positives is a bad thing. I mean, there's a difference between "Yeah, this was a problem but I think the positives outweigh the negatives" and whitewashing the thing to make it look like it has no flaws at all.

Exactly. You can acknowledge the negatives (which is always an important thing to do) but that doesn't mean you have to dwell on them to the determent of the positives. And the episode did have a lot of positives. As I said before, the writers could have fixed that if they'd just followed up the "Books books books BOOKS" with somepony pointing out, "But she already has a new library! What's wrong with those books?" "Well, maybe it's not the books she misses..." If you can somehow imagine that that happened 'off screen' then the episode completely works.

Alright I guess. It just seemed like it was being ignored completely. Which is strange to me since I thought it was pretty glaring issue.

The way I see it, after you pinpoint a negative aspect of an episode, there's really not that much you can 'do' about it other than determine why it's a negative or what could have been done to avoid or improve it. To put it bluntly, it's 'done'. It can't be changed. That's why I don't dwell on them too much unless they're so glaring they completely overshadow everything about it. Yes, that was an issue with this episode, but rather than dwell on it I'd prefer to dwell on: - the 'closure' with the old library, and the touching and creative use of the roots with memory crystals - the fact that memory crystals exist - the funny humor of the episode (I'm pancake) - the fact that party cannons are now all over the castle - the fact that Bulk Biceps is a masseuse I just get more enjoyment dwelling on the positives than the negatives. I watch this show to enjoy it.

Oh well, for whatever reason I usually feel the opposite.

There's nothing with that.
