Indeed, and I am just too tired to stay up to follow it, so goodnight folks.

And so the final ends up being the exact opposite of what I predicted way before. Argentina beats The Netherlands 4-2 in penalty kicks and the final match will be Germany vs. Argentina.

And we have yet another match end with penalty kicks.

I won't be going out to watch the final. Everyone else is working.

Well, if Brazil was hoping to dull the pain of their German loss with this third place game. . .yeah, that doesn't look to be happening.
The Netherlands lead Brazil 2-0 at the half, and unlike other Cups I don't think this is going to be remembered as the best game of the tournament.

Oh, right, I forgot about the third place game.

And that's it. Brazil loses to the Dutch 3-0. The Netherlands take home the bronze, and Brazil has the indignity of watching their biggest rivals play for the Cup with nothing to show for it.

I literally just heard the news on the tv in a kebab shop. All I can say for the poor yellow shirt and blue shorts wearing fools is, ouch.

Man, Brazil really collapsed at the end there.

I have to see the match highlights tomorrow.

Well somethings just don't change in this tournament. It's 0-0 in the World Cup final and going into extra time. There were certainly a fair share of close calls, but this may very well go to penalty kicks I think.

Sure looks like it now. 9 minutes to go and neither team seems close to scoring. Argentina had a few chances, but they couldn't follow through.
EDIT: And Germany scores! Of course, that just means that Argentina will probably score and send it to overtime anyway, but still.
EDIT 2: And the guy who scored is named "Goetze". The internet is going to have a field day with that. Also, if you don't know what I'm referring to, consider yourself lucky.

Germany got it!
And what's this about Goetze?

And Goetze does indeed spare us from penalty kicks. 1-0 is the final and with this Germany has secured a few historical things. - They are the first UEFA nation to win the World Cup in the Americas.
- This is the first World Cup win by a unified Germany.
- I also believe that this tournament will tie as the highest scoring World Cup of all time. Tied with the 1998 World Cup to be precise.
One bit of sadness I feel is for Lionel Messi, who will pretty much be dead to Argentina for the next four years, despite a pretty solid performance overall.

@apple: You don't want to know. Trust me.
But yeah, Germany managed to pull out a win at the end there.
