So we're all in agreement. The Clash rock.

Speaking of punk.

Nah, that's not punk. It's tuneful and melodic and I've listened to it three times since you mentioned it the first time and it didn't make me want to dig out my eardrums with a toothpick.

Ah, my favorite PMV. Led Zep is 20 percent cooler with Pony.

Well, Marquee Moon is basically post-punk, only it came out in 1977. Six months before Never Mind the Bollocks did. As I understand it, the division between punk and post-punk was a line that was drawn after the fact; at the time it was really darn blurry. Hence why one of the big three punk bands went on to play reggae, rap, and, um, twee motown? And why Wire's "12XU" was a huge influence on hardcore punk, but the very next year's "Outdoor Miner" was almost a crossover pop hit. ( 154 is still da best, though.) I forgot where I was going with this.

Anyway, this reminded me to give The Dingees' Rebel Soul Sound System another listen. Still my favorite "punk" album, I think. An album so great that I bought a physical copy, even though the band had already given the mp3s away for free.

I only recently heard Def Leppard's 2006 cover of David Essex's "Rock On". I've been listening to it a lot.
It's a travesty, IMO, that this cover didn't chart, yet Michael Damian's bland cover in the '80s hit #1.

I haven't been listening to a lot of music lately, which I need to rectify. I think I should start by getting some sensible ear phones so that I can listen whilst working, as right now all I have are comically over sized head phones. Although with the nature of this work I probably shouldn't be doing that.
