I've talked before about how much I love Sufjan Stevens' Christmas albums, but HOT DAMN this song is sublime.

I'm going to listen to every Starflyer 59 album and EP, in order. This will take a few days.

With the sad demise of David Bowie, I think I need to have a marathon of his music.

gileahtaylor.bandcamp.com/album/songs-for-late-at-night-vol-1Have I talked about Gileah Taylor on here before? She's an independent musician from Florida. Her songwriting reminds me of Eisley or Coldplay, but I really like her better than either of them. What's strange is how, for someone who hasn't put out too many albums in the grand scheme of things, she certainly does her best to stop fans from keeping track of her. Like, the keeps changing what name she releases albums under: "Gileah", "Gileah and the Ghost Train", "Gileah Taylor", "You Are Golden", and "Chris & Gileah" (for a duet album with her husband). And she has some kind of internet-based attention deficit disorder where every time she records a new album, she abandons whatever social media outlet she was using five years prior, abandons her old website, and builds a new one from the ground up. So when she writes about her discography, there's no guarantee that the story isn't full of holes. Case in point: that link above is to the first album she ever recorded, all the way back from 2000. I don't know if this is the first official release, or if it's a re-release. Because I've been following Gileah since 2007 or so, and this is the first I've ever heard of this album. I always thought The Golden Planes (2005) was her debut. Anyway, the new old album sounds nice. And apparently she's working on an actually new followup to it, so that's exciting. And I see you can still download Gileah and the Ghost Train (my favorite of her albums) bundled with a double-EP (that's almost as good) completely for free here: noisetrade.com/chrisandgileah/gileah-and-the-ghost-train

Huh, that's... interesting. I wonder if she's trying to make some sort of artistic statement or if she's just eccentric.

The new Coldplay song is pretty good, and I say that as someone who normally doesn't bother with Coldpay at all

I've been listening to a lot of Panic! in the Disco, ever since I discovered the band via a Teens React video. They're pretty darn catchy.

I know precisely one Panic! at the Disco song, because it was in Rock Band 2. It was a pretty good song, though not my style.
@applelight: Yeah, that song is pretty good. I haven't really listened to much Coldplay in a while, but I have both X & Y and Viva La Vida and they're pretty good. Not my favorites, but they have some solid songs. Also that video has dancing monkeys, which is always a plus.
I'm mainly just waiting for Dream Theater's new album to come out on this Friday. They're doing their first concept album in over a decade, so it ought to be pretty interesting.

Ah, that would be Nine in the Afternoon, if my research is correct. Not my favorite song either.
Also, it took me a while to realize that nine in the afternoon isn't actually a time that exists.

That always bugged me. It's either in the morning or the evening.

Sufjan Stevens' electronic album about the Chinese zodiac. I listen to it every Chinese New Year.

... The opening reminds me of the SNES era RPG music. Like I feel like it's the kind of thing that would play during the opening of a Final Fantasy game or something.

Applelight, you ever listen to School of Seven Bells? They were a mix of dream pop, shoegazer, and synth-pop before. On their new album (which will be their last) they went full synth-pop.
