This is the place for everybody to advertise their fics and/or ask for help proofreading or whatever. But mostly for advertising. So here's a compendium off all my currently posted pony fanfics: A Delicate Balance: Uberlong Twijack shipfic. I'm finally starting to wrap it up, although it still has a few chapters to go. Between Sisters: Celestia writes a letter to her sister on the moon. This is actually the first pony related fanfic I wrote. Crashback: Twilight decides to use Zecora's flashback potion to go on a nostalgia trip, and it backfires. Equestria's First Prank Call: Twilight invents the Equestrian Equivalent of the Telephone, only to have it get hijacked by Pinkie. Hilarity Ensues. Lyra's Lousy Day: The real reason Lyra cried when a parasprite ate her pie. Performers and Portrayers: Cheerilee's class puts on a play about the Elements of Harmony. It's less than accurate. Unfinished; I've kinda been neglecting it. Pinkie Bulks Up: Pinkie tries to gain weight to impress a chubby-chaser, but her metabolism works against her. You get one guess who requested this one. A Rock and a Hard Place: Maud Pie decides she wants to know what it's like to be a rock. A Very Derpy Christmas: Joke fic I wrote for a friend. 2nd Person. Derpy shows up at your house on Christmas. Window Dressing: Luna confronts Celestia over the latter's stained glass window obsession.

Yes, finally, I was hoping you'd do that JT! Now I can get caught up with your work in one convenient place.

I've written one rather short story for MLP, but I will be working on a few longer projects. I hope I don't give up on them this time.

I'll start with a Rock and a hard place. Maud is always good for sure.

Cool. Let me know what you think.
In other news, my "Window Dressing" story got approved for EQD.

Congrats! Nice job!
You gotta be pretty well known in the wider community by now, with a few hit fanfics under your belt?

I'd hardly call them hits; they're well received, but the most popular oneshot fanfic I've ever written has something like 5,000 views and 500 upvotes. Which is good, but it barely holds a candle to some of the really popular stuff out there. Definitely going up, though.

Okay, so I have an idea for my next major project after A Delicate Balance is, and I figured I'd float the basic idea here to see what people think of it.
Here's the background: The general plot takes place in Canterlot about a year after the start of S1. Luna has been rescued from being NMM, but she's turned into a bit of a recluse. She hasn't gotten over her issues with being unpopular with the populace, and is dealing with it by basically turning into a basement dweller. She spends all her time marathoning TV shows and playing video games. Celestia lets her get away with it for a while, as she believes she needs to give Luna her space, but she eventually comes to the conclusion that Luna really needs to go outside and get some social interaction. That's basically the point where the story would start.
The bulk of the story is centered on Celestia and Luna and how they deal with Luna's gradual acclimation into society and dealing with the issues that caused the problem in the first place. The two general character arcs would parallel each other. Luna would realize the value of trying to interact with others within her niche, and Celestia would realize that it's not Luna's interests that are the problem, but rather that Luna uses them as a replacement for interaction.
Could that work?

It does sound like it could be interesting, but I feel like the really interesting stuff would come from the intermittent elements. Like, what specifically Luna is doing. If it's following the show's canon, then it can't really take place around any characters we've seen... would she be interacting with the residents of the palace? Even Celestia herself isn't really 'friendly' with her subjects from what we've seen, though she is nice, so it seems like it might be difficult for her to persuade Luna to do so if she isn't. Plus, it seems like it might not even be a necessarily good idea to have the people who work closest to Luna see her as more 'pony'. If she ''is'' eventually making her way back to having royal duties, as she seems to to some degree(Nightmare Night could be seen as making a royal appearance at an event similar to Celestia at the Summer Sun festival, albeit unannounced...), then it might be a good idea for her to be seen as... well, regal.
Unrealted note: It's cool to talk about blog stuff here too, right? While I've had ''kind'' of a hankering to get back to writing(Our Eminence really should be finished eventually), the askblog is really the only thing I do I can self-promote nowawdays.

The story would focus mostly around Celestia and Luna at first, and expand to involve their interactions with the palace staff. For example, a big step in Luna's development is when Celestia realizes that one of her maids watches the same TV show as Luna, so she transfers the maid to work in Luna's chambers, resulting in Luna striking up her first non-forced conversation with someone. It would be the point that she realizes that she is indeed capable of creating friendships with other ponies if she takes time to find common ground.

fair enough.
I've yet to read Delicate Balance, so I don't really know how your style is, but I can definitely see it being interesting. I presume you'd be going for largely comedic with some serious elements?

It would be mostly a dramedy, yeah. For a good example, you could look at this. It's only a one-shot, but it gives a good example of how both the comedic and drama elements might show up. Basically it would start as straight comedy, and then delve into their motivation during the dramatic parts, hopefully without ever losing the comedy completely. Although I'd hope to integrate it a bit more smoothly. The serious bits would be an examination of how Luna overcomes the social issues that led to her eventually becoming NMM and addressing them by learning how to actually form relationships rather than just expecting adoration from her citizens as a matter of course.

I just wanted to say, for anyone reading this, read JT's crashback. It's a brilliant little short story but I cannot say anything about it for fear of spoiling the plot.
