Had a weird thought last night, as I was hovering between dreaming and awake. A woman who, when asked about her favorite TV shows, lists "The History" as her second choice. Because she thinks all of history is a work of fiction, and the history documentaries on TV are all spinoffs. Some guy on Youtube stole my idea!

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Americans, and Happy Thursday, November 22 to everyone else.

I listen to KRTU, the college jazz radio station. The music is good and the commercials aren't obnoxious.

After work today, I went to the taco shop next door and got some dinner to go. As I was waiting for my tacos, another guy came up and tried to warn me that there were "little people" climbing on top of and inside my car. But he mostly spoke Spanish, and the lady who owned the restaurant had to translate for him—and as soon as his back was turned, she silently made the "he's crazy" gesture. I talked with the guy a little more, and eventually established that it was actually someone else's car that the little people were messing with. He left soon after, and the restaurant lady explained that he'd been hiding inside for a while because of all the little people outside, who were shooting lasers from their eyes.
She and her husband thought the guy must have been doing drugs. I just feel kinda bad for him.
EDIT: Applelight, it's great to hear your grandma's doing well.

Sorry about that guys. @ Mezzaphor Nice! I would love to see pics of those! I especially like the design of that bomber. Finally got around to taking some half-decent photos. Figured I might as well show off all the SW LEGOs I've made over the last four years or so. There's Darth Vader's TIE Advanced, Kylo Ren's TIE Silencer, an A-Wing, a Y-Wing, a TIE Striker from Rogue One, a First Order TIE Fighter, Poe Dameron's X-Wing, an Imperial AT-AT, a First Order AT-M6, and a Resistance Bomber. My thoughts: I'm not sure if the scale is correct for Darth Vader and Kylo Ren's personal starfighters. But even if Kylo's TIE isn't that much bigger, it's pretty obvious he told the engineers, "I want a TIE Fighter that's just like grandfather's, but even more evil. Can you make it all jagged and pointy? Or give it a black and red paint job?" Everyone probably calls that ship the "TIE Overcompensator" behind his back. The Y-Wing pilot is way too happy. Putting the AT-AT and AT-M6 side-by-side truly demonstrates how borked the scale is for these LEGO sets. Here, both walkers are the same size, but in the movies, the AT-M6 (the one to the right) is significantly bigger—so large that the AT-AT only comes up to its "shoulder" joint.

I can't disagree there.
Lately, I've been getting and building some Star Wars LEGO sets. A few weeks ago I made the Resistance Bomber, from The Last Jedi, and earlier this week I got Kylo Ren's TIE Silencer. These are expensive enough, it's a good thing the other sets for sale now aren't that interesting to me.
Hey, Applelight, I don't remember: did you ever finish that Millennium Falcon model you were working on?

Not as active as before, but there are a few new faces who write very verbose reaction posts to every new episode. It feels like no one in the thread likes the show without reservations anymore, but there isn't any agreement on when exactly the "good old days" were, or if they even existed in the first place, or if the issues in the current season have actually been in the show since the very beginning.
I had a freaky dream last night. Probably doesn't sound like much, but it felt like one of the worst dreams I've had in a while. It started with some kind of alien invasion on a beach. I was there with my family, and there were a bunch of flying craft that looked a lot like sailboats, landing in the water. We all had a very bad feeling about it; my mom said something to the effect that everything was about to fall apart, and these were the first cracks. Somehow I knew that these flying sailboats could shoot clouds of ash that'd kill anyone they touched. Then when everyone tried to run away, tentacles came out of the water and started grabbing people. And as I ran, there was a voiceover (as if the dream turned into a documentary) describing how easily the aliens conquered Earth and enslaved humanity.
And then the dream went into weird Philip K Dick territory. When we got away from the beach, there was nothing on the news about the alien invasion, no panic anywhere, and no signs that aliens were invading at all. It was like the aliens only arrived in an alternate reality, and we had slipped back into "real" reality when we left that beach. Except our TVs and electronics started getting broadcasts from the other reality, and those broadcasts were causing our reality to transform gradually into the one where Earth had already been conquered.

TVTropes got borked for Storyyeller somehow. He could view pages, but couldn't post anything, edit, sign in, or even make a new account. He tried from multiple browsers on multiple computers, but nothing worked. And he didn't get edit-banned or anything; there was no punishment from the mods to explain why the site was behaving like that for him.
I passed Story's message along to the admins and didn't get much of a reply back, but then Story was able to log in and post again. So I don't know if the admins fixed something, or if it was a random error that just as randomly fixed itself.

I was also in that mass email. It got sorted out, somehow, but I'm still not sure why the site wouldn't let Story do anything.

I started a new job recently, so I've been pretty busy with that.
One of my cousins got married last weekend, so I drove up to the Dallas area to attend the wedding. That was interesting. My cousin is half-Mexican, and her husband is all Mexican, so the ceremony was in English and Spanish. And then they served tacos at the reception dinner, and even had a mariachi band playing.

Might as well just post in the general Star Wars thread.

With how much you've been losing, I'm beginning to wonder if the game is just badly balanced.
