That episode that leaked a few weeks ago finally aired officially.
It looked like it was going to be another rehash of "Fluttershy needs to stop being so scared", but the episode's message was a legitimately surprising twist. This episode and "Filli Vanilli" feel like two halves of a whole.

Pretty much. I really liked how it threw Fluttershy a bit of a bone in that it made it clear that shyness and simply not enjoying something enough to take part of it are two different things. Getting over your shyness doesn't mean taking part in everything, including things you don't enjoy.

The "scary tea party" was a really great scene. A very interesting insight into Fluttershy's mind and what it's like to have social anxiety—and it's still funny as hell.

The fact that she seems to be fan of anime is just a bonus. And yeah, it does say quite a bit about her psyche that she considers surprise guests to be the worst thing that could happen. Though you'd think that maybe Rarity would be able to sympathize.

So I know it's been a while, and there's the finale, but I just got to watching this one. And it was pretty good! I actually sympathized with Fluttershy a lot in this episode, for the reasons you guys have covered. Just because you've conquered your fear of something doesn't necessarily mean that you have to like it. And I get her fears, as I'm a people pleaser myself.
