A story about misinterpreting cutie marks, which raises the very serious question: "Should klutziness be a criminal offense?"

So other ponies still laugh uproariously at Troubleshoe's misfortune, but it's okay now because he's wearing clown clothes and makeup? Yeah, I know they don't realize his clumsiness really isn't part of the act, but it still gave me an uncomfortable feeling.

I think they were going for a message of "Recognize your limitations, and find something you love within those limits". But I can see where it could come across as "If the world keeps kicking you, learn to enjoy it."

To think that I thought that he would be a unicorn!

@meta: Yeah, I can see what they were going for, but I think it's still a bit odd. Sort of a "Make the most of what you've got" thing.

What were his parents thinking when they named him Trouble Hooves?
Why the heck would realizing he wanted to be in the rodeo give him a bad luck cutie mark? (Actually, I don't even know why an upside down horseshoe is bad luck. Or that it even was considered upside down. Chalk it up to cultural differences, I guess?)
And things would have played out quite a bit differently if Apple Bloom had just explained immediately instead of waiting to get their attention.
But, you know, all in all, it was a pretty okay episode. Not exceptional, in my opinion, but still decent.

What were his parents thinking when they named him Trouble Hooves? There must be some kind of oracle that all parents consult to name their children. Or maybe it's super-common for ponies to change their own names later in life. I was unfamiliar with that as well, though I vaguely remember hearing about it sometime before. A little bit of google searching shows that there is no agreement about which direction indicates good luck.

I'm currently watching the election results but I hope to watch this episode soon. Stuff just keeps getting in the way!

I finally saw the new episode. Two points to take away;7
Trouble Shoes is the biggest woobie I've seen in the show yet.
And non earth pony cow ponies do exist (there was a pegasus there). That's something to consider. Actually, in a way, Flim and Flam are the same sort of 'Americana themed' personalty that AJ is.

The twin brothers would be the snake oil salesmen of the old west setting, I think.

The twin brothers would be the snake oil salesmen of the old west setting, I think. That's the one. Some headcannon inbound; the Flim Flams were born to EP parents in an EP town.

Trouble Shoes is the biggest woobie I've seen in the show yet. He reminded me of Eeyore.

I'm pretty sure everybody who's ever seen anything Winnie-the-Pooh related thought of Eeyore.
Pinkie is Tigger, by the way.

Oh absolutely.
I wonder how well Pinkie and Shoes would get on?
