It may make sense, but it still coincides with one of my greatest criticisms of this series. The world of EQG is just not interesting enough on it's own to have it's own stories. It needs to go back to Equestria to make it's plots happen.

It needs to go back to Equestria to make it's plots happen. This point highlights a big weakness with EQ; the sense that overall it doesn't really matter and also that it didn't need to be made. I don't think they've overcome this yet. I like what they've done so far with it but I still think this is an issue with it.

Yeah, I think in general it would be a lot stronger if they didn't keep trying to tie it back to the main series. There's no real reason to do so other than to justify it being part of the brand.

I admit I wouldn't mind if the fact that these two worlds are linked were more of a genuine plot point rather then a plot device, but it is stuck in a weird middle ground that feels like the worst of both worlds.

Yeah, they need to either make it directly connected, or sever it completely, not tell a mostly-independent story with a connection tossed in.

The second clip is doing Flash a lot of favors in terms of characterizations. And it's nice to see Sunset is still not over that last incident. It's making me feel OK about the movie.

Hmm. . .no, it really doesn't. I don't understand why a lot of people are praising what they are doing with Flash. He's got nothing going for him except his crush on Twilight. If the genders were reversed I think people would be (rightly) critical of the decision.

Mio: I agree that it would be problematic if the genders were reversed, but thing is, they aren't. If they were there would be good reason to be critical because "girl who's all hung up on some guy" is a common cliche of how girls act. But as things are, it's notably less stereotypical. The only time you see a guy being treated as the hung-up-on-a-crush party is when it's a nerdy/unattractive guy crushing on a more attractive girl. In this case Flash is a handsome (well, I'm assuming he's meant to be, at least) and popular guy who's the one getting awkward, so in general I think that the situation is a bit different. That said, I don't think it's that interesting, but I'm happy that he's actually getting ANY development, which he totally didn't in the first movie. I'm more interested in the fact that Sunset is actually getting some development. Especially regarding her past with Flash.

While yes it's not as stereotypical as if the genders were reversed that's not really what my criticisms were about. It's the fact that, as of now, Flash Sentry's only reason for existence is to be Twilight's potential future boyfriend. He has no know outside goals and no characteristics that don't relate to his interaction with Twilight and potential crush on Twilight, save perhaps his being in a band. It's says something that the only interaction that we see him having with other characters is about Twilight.
That's really what I meant more when I said that people would be more critical if the genders were reversed, and while it does develop him a little (I guess) it really doesn't detract from what I have said above.

Asiago's mooks companions aren't the sharpest tools in the shed. I didn't know our villains were actually cheese themed this whole time. Anyway. . .that's definitely more stuff. . .

Asiago is the arch-nemesis to Applejack's distant cousin, Colby Jack.
