For when you don't think a movie warrants its own thread. Today, I watched The Incredibles. Still one of my absolute favorite movies ever. Damn near perfect, if you ask me. Also watched the Mystery Science Theater version of Robot Monster. It’s... baffling. Like the movie clearly wants to be bleak examination of humanity on the verge of extinction due to an alien invader. The monster even strangles a little girl to death. It’s just impossible to take the monster or the movie seriously because... they had a really small budget and THIS was the best costume they could manage: hausofdeath.com/2012/04/28/robot-monster/

God I can't remember the last time I watched The Incredibles. You're right though, it's a masterpiece. And I've seen that monster before. It's like the dictionary picture for 'B-Movie'. I'm currently watching the 2012 version of The Sweeny...it's garbage, but good garbage.

The Incredibles is an amazing movie.
@meta: Ah yes, that classic movie monster Giant Teddy Bear With A Diving Helmet.
The last movie I watched in its entirety was Muppets From Space. Which is incredibly cheesy, but it's still hilarious in a lot of places. Not quite up with Muppet Treasure Island though. The Matrix Reloaded was also on tv for a bit. I had forgotten just how extreme the disparity is between the quality of the action scenes and the quality of the writing. The fights are awesome, and the premise is interesting, but the execution is so melodramatic that it borders on unintentional comedy at points. The first movie was pretty solid, but the sequels are ludicrous.

I watched Frozen and the Lego Movie with my sister while she was visiting, since she hadn't seen either.

Last film I saw in a theater was the Hobbit one. Too many battle scenes for me, I got bored of those. I don't think the LOTR films are my kind of thing in general.
Last film I saw, period, was Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Nothing too memorable either, except maybe seeing modernized versions of Greek myths and legends.
Last film I saw that I actually liked was Guardians of the Galaxy. I never get tired of metaphors going over Drax's head. Also I managed to get Hooked on a Feeling stuck in my head for days.

Pinkie should be Starlord.
Also I just watched The Dark Knight for the second time. Still holds up in my esteem.

It was a Tom Cruise movie day at Casa Meta. I just watched Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and Edge of Tomorrow.
Apparently Brad Bird really likes shots of intercontinental ballistic missiles in action. Consider: The Iron Giant has that nuclear missile in the climax. The Incredibles has the rocket that transports the Omnidroid to Metroville. And Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol has another nuclear missile.
Ratatouille is the only exception, and clearly that's just because Brad Bird stepped in to replace the original director. If it had been his project from the beginning, then Anton Ego would have been part of an elite league of super-critics—and if Linguine couldn't impress him with the meal, then he'd launch a missile that would give bad reviews to every restaurant in Paris!

That image made me laugh so much. Thank you Mezzaphor. Btw, Edge of Tomorrow is that one that's like Groundhog Day but with guns and power armor yes? Also, I watched '71 last night. I would have to rate it as 'just average'.

I can't take complete credit for that. A buddy from another chat room and I both came up with it during a conversation.
Yes, Edge of Tomorrow is a sci-fi war time loop movie. Based on the Japanese book All You Need is Kill. If you like Tom Cruise, then it's great because he's really good in this movie. If you dislike Tom Cruise, it's still great because you get to see him die hundreds of times. It's win-win!
The similarities between it and the FIM fanfic Hard Reset are definitely interesting.
