Not really much to say except that I'm annoyed that I have to get used to the new interface.

Have to admit, alarm bells are ringing in my head about this thread.
Mostly it sounds dangerously close to exporting drama, especially since there's stuff like the new layout not appealing to a lot of people.
Also, is Apple okay with a thread about TV Tropes, considering his personal history with it?

No need to worry. I am perfectly OK with it.

I actually like the overall look of the new site. The old site always felt to me like it might fall apart any second.
That said, there are some usability issues. But with how Drew and whats-his-name are gathering feedback, I'm cautiously optimistic about those issues getting fixed.

I don't want any drama. Only talk about wiki and most specifically Tropes themselves. Not only about new changes. There is also alternate for TV Tropes, by people who left wiki but wanted to do Trope work. Here
Anyone had any bigger editing activity? Like YKTTW?

What's basically going on is that while Eddie was coding the site, he did a lot of kludge-y stuff with the code that makes it really difficult to dig through if they want to change things without breaking stuff. I.e. all the login issues were caused by the list of anti-troll measures he added. I'm no programmer, but I know that coding can be insanely complicated. All things considered, I think they're doing a pretty good job at addressing the issues. It's hardly perfect, but it's like trying to deconstruct and rebuild a car engine while also having the car be drivable at every step of the process.
As for the new layout, I don't mind it. I'm just happy that I don't have to click through the workshops to get to the forum anymore. It needs some tweaking, yeah, but on the whole I think it's perfectly serviceable.

Anyone had any bigger editing activity? Like YKTTW? I'm still somewhat active in editing the wiki. Like, if you read the article about Ultra Fast Pony, I wrote about 95% of that. And I launched the article about David Byrne a few months ago. I comment in ykttw but haven't launched any trope articles in a while. I used to be really prolific. Back before there was a forum to distract me, or when the forum was still small and slow.

I know that when code isn't built with maintainability in mind, it can be very easy to accidentally break something when you're trying to tweak something else. Sometimes in some part that seems totally unrelated. Doubly so when you're working on someone else's code, since you don't have the other programmer's subconscious sense of how everything was built. That's why there's an entire subject devoted to stuff like maintainable code. Software engineering, if I'm not mistaken.
Would not be surprised if that was the case here. It was a one-man job, and not even a full-time one at that, so the codebase probably would look like it was held together with duct tape, figuratively speaking.
On a different note, most of my recent wiki activity involves making work pages. I don't really have it in me to curate something, so I just make a page to start with (for stuff that doesn't have a work page) and let wiki magic do its work.

Most of my recent work is just adding examples and minor stuff like that. I just haven't had the time to do anything major, and due to the fact that I rarely follow stuff as it comes out means most examples and such I think of are already posted by the time I remember to add them. Same goes for launching tropes; occasionally I'll get an idea for one only to find that we already have it. I do have a handful that I launched back in the day. Attractive Bent Gender is probably the largest one.

I mentioned that there were some usability issues? Some of them have already been fixed. So I'm feeling pretty good about where the site is heading.

Anyone still having issues with the place?

The only usability issues I'm noticing is that quoteblocks aren't working in the forum, but that's fairly minor.

The big outstanding issues are (1) problems with logging in and staying logged—which may have already been solved since I haven't been randomly logged out for over a day—and (2) a lot of the wiki editing links were shuffled into a drop-down menu on the wiki pages. That second one, I think, is a huge issue that may legitimately drive current and potential editors away from the site. But the admins seem open to fixing that one.

Bugs are to be expected when making an overhaul I guess.
I used to feel regret over what happened between me and there but this place has been a pretty decent replacement. I was never into troping and editing anyway.
How's the pony thread these days?
