So, as with any media franchise FiM has had a couple of games since it first aired. There's the gameloft free to play moblie game plus the varies games that are online on it's main website like Adventure Ponies!
Since we are apparently going to get five more years of FiM at least do you think we might get some more traditional sorts of video games, and if so what do you want/expect them to look like?

I think the genre that would fit with the show's general feel the best would be something along the lines of the Animal Crossing games. Or if you want something a bit more actiony, maybe a platformer like the classic Spyro the Dragon series.

A classic platformer starring Twilight would be great, since she can fly, cast magic and (presumably) fight too.
But a game like animal crossing would be more FIM in tone. I don't know what I'd pick.

I've always been partial to the idea of a pony JRPG myself.
Another idea I've always like was a Wonderbolts themed flying action game staring Rainbow Dash.

What does the J stand for in that again?
And would this WB game be a racing game of some sort?

It stands for "Japanese" in reference to how role playing games designed by Japanese video game companies are very different then designed by western companies.
I had actually imagined it being more of free-form flying game, though a racing game can work, or a game could have racing sections.

Oh, you mean those turn based ones, like Final Fantasy?

Yeah, like that. Where the story and the characters are already set up and there isn't as much customization or alternate paths.

Sounds interesting. With the mane six as character options?

Likely with all six characters in the party.

Yes, with each one able to perform an element act to complete tasks (because friendship should be the main aim of the game). Like Pinkie can try to make things laugh, or FS can show an act of kindness etc.

Personally, if they'd go the RPG route, something like the Disgaea games would work pretty well. That way you'd be able to have more characters.

I don't know. I would think that such a huge cast would be not work as well.

I think having it limited to the mane six would be simple and probably the best way to do such a game.

I always wonder how close a hypothetical video game would keep to continuity. You could just start a game at the beginning and do something completely different.
