Something must be wrong at the heart of the Spanish team.

Speaking of teams one would expect to do better. England loses to Uruguay 2-1 and is also functionally eliminated.
I'm not sure if this is nearly as surprising as Spain's collapse.

Given Spain won the thing last time, I would think that's about as big an upset as one could have.

Lol...this isn't surprising at all. England always (and I mean always) do this during the World Cup! Well never mind that then. Though I do wonder if the English team gets any fan support from the rest of Britain. I'm going to assume, given recent events and just how football fandom generally works, that that's a big No.

With a capital N. Scotland and Wales laugh at them, and Northern Ireland is...complicated. Me though, I was rooting for them, as the only UK team in the Cup. It's sad really. If Italy win their next two games, and England win against Costa Rica...they might qualify on goal difference. So it's not over just yet but it's a big ask.

Well that is a silly question. I should have known when I saw someone with the St.Andrew's Cross among the Uruguay fans, acting like his team had qualified or something.

Well England are out. They are apparently at their worst since 1958. And France hammered Switzerland badly. At this rate, it's really hard to judge who's going to win this because teams keep doing really well in one game only to completely flub their next game after.

If any European team is going to go all the way my money is on either France, Germany, or the Netherlands being the ones to go.
That being said, a European team has never actually won the World Cup in South America (how many times it's been held there I'm unsure), so a safer bet is probably Brazil, Chile or another "local" team to take the cup.

In an important match for pretty much everyone in the Group Germany and Ghana finish their game tied at 2-2.
This means that neither team can be qualified or disqualified for the next round until they play their last game, while the USA can become qualified with a victory over Portugal tomorrow.

They'll need a lot of luck for that one.

Not nearly as much as you would think.

Didn't one of the main USA players get injured though?

Yes, but Portugal has multiple injuries and at least one if it's main players was barred from playing due to a Red Card.
On that front, Portugal is in far worse shape then we are.
