It's because at this level it's a national pride thing. In the past we fought wars. These days we play the World Cup. Both involve who can kick balls the hardest.

Last night, due to random chance, the current cup holder Spain went up against their opponents from the last final in 2010, the Netherlands. And they got beaten 5-1! Which, for those who don't know it, is basically a massacre. Best match I've seen in a long time, and it's got my dad (and me) thinking that Holland might just win it all this time.

Man, and I thought that the Spurs steamrolling the Heat in past two NBA finals games was bad.

Man, and I thought that the Spurs steamrolling the Heat in past two NBA finals games was bad. Which one is the NBA again? And tonight is Italy V England. I'll be interested in this. And Columbia beat Greece 3-0. All the matches so far have been amazing to watch. Completely against the norm.

In the opening stages yes, because Teams are afraid to lose.

Yeah, the NBA is basketball. I don't really follow it much, but I've been watching the finals. The Miami Heat, who have been the champs for the past two years, got beaten pretty badly by the San Antonio Spurs in the past two games. It's not an enormous blowout, but considering that it's the finals and Miami is usually a very dominant team, it surprised a lot of people.

Any team that beats the Miami Heat is okay in my book.

I'm rooting for the Spurs almost entirely because I think Lebron is a bit too douchy to deserve three championships.

I don't think there will be any singing of Jerusalem tonight.
