Expecting that kind of continuity and thought from the show can be a bit much a times, let alone the from the "funny animal" throwback nature of the comics.

In general, they basically use it as an excuse to see dinosaurs and visit Pony Ancient Egypt.

I don't think so. They seem to be releasing one per week. The Sombra issue came out last week, and Tirek came out yesterday.

Ever since comixology stopped working on my phone I've been having trouble keeping up to date with them.

Read the Fluttershy and Iron Will one. It was pretty cute, though I feel like they could've mined more humor out of the premise. Still worth it seeing Iron Will visit a spa, though. Also, he's apparently a family minotaur.

Well that looks pretty interesting. It harks back to that earlier comic but I think it contradicts what was said about nightmare moon being trapped in the moon, not on it. It's a clever explanation for the meaning of the term 'nightmare'.

Yeah, the pilot said Nightmare Moon was banished in the moon, not on it. That creepy NM profile isn't just on the moon's surface as a decoration. A lot of people (artists, especially) seem to have misunderstood and/or forgotten this. It looks like IDW has forgotten (or perhaps deliberately overlooked) this as well, in order to tell a more entertaining story.

Most of the comics already are, more or less.

Guys back then must have been seriously rattled. I can't wait to read these. They should be pretty interesting.
