I don't really have a favorite episode. I have several episodes I really liked, and a few I thought were kind of boring. But I do have an episode that I'm rather divided about- Luna Eclipsed. On the one hand, awesome Luna episode. On the other hand, I really dislike the resolution. Sure, everyone likes Luna on Nightmare Night now, but what about the rest of the year?

Sure, everyone likes Luna on Nightmare Night now, but what about the rest of the year? A lot of people think the moral of Luna Eclipsed was a "Huh? Wha?" moment. "Everypony is terrified of me, even though I'm not trying to be scary. If I play along and scare them, everypony will like me!" And yeah, count me among the viewers who wanted to give Pinkie a good kick in the plot.

My attitude towards that episode is basically "Would've been one of the show's best episodes ever if the resolution had made sense."
So Luna keeps accidentally scaring everypony because they think she's NMM. Great conflict, executed well for 90% of the show. How do we solve this problem?
Oh, she can just be scary ON PURPOSE and then suddenly everypony is fine with it. I don't get it.
Should've put her in a costume and let her interact with the ponies on a one-to-one basis before revealing that it was her.

Oh my, what to pick. Well, I've always felt Ticket Master to be the least enjoyable episode. I found the plot to be too predictable.
As for favorite, well... that really depends on a few things. Favorite in what regard? I'll have to rewatch some episodes, namely everything from S2 and S3. However, ignoring season openers and finals, my favorite world building episode would have to be Dragon Quest.

I'll take characterization over Worldbuilding any day. Not that worldbuilding is bad, but given the choice between say, "Hearths Warming Eve" and "Look Before You Sleep", I'd take the latter. Not that the former is bad, of course. It's best to have both.

Hence why I said "Favorite in what regard?" Dragon Quest is my favorite world building episode, where as Baby Cakes is my favorite characterization episode (at least when it comes to Pinkie Pie).

Ah Baby Cakes, that's a good one. And I'm also one of those who believe Look Before You Sleep is like, one of the show's best, and most underrated, episodes.

I've never understood all the Look Before You Sleep dislike myself. I think it's a solid, character-driven episode.

I don't think it gets a lot of dislike; it's more that it's just considered average by a lot of people because it doesn't have the kinds of crazy moments that most other episodes do. It's way more subtle than most of the show, so it gets forgotten easily, especially since its an early episode.

Whatever the name, that's another one low down on my preference list. The dragon was the only good thing about it. Huh...why can't MLP do Dragons well?

There are so many ways for Dragon's to be in fiction I wouldn't know which to choose for FiM.

Silly Sydxelia. Spike's not a dragon, he's a pony. Said so himself. I don't know, maybe some day Spike will meet a troop of dragons like him. . . But I wouldn't count on it being anymore then fanart at this stage.

I think the main issue with Spike's role in the series is that he has no peers. They try to show him being one of the group with the ponies, but it's obvious that he isn't. Not because they don't care about him or anything, but because he's just not quite in their social group. They're all adults, and he's a tagalong. He does help Twilight with her research, but the dynamic between the rest of the group is that he's the "little brother" type character. They try to write episodes with him the same way they would with the other ponies and it just doesn't work because his relationships with them are different than the relationships they have with each other.
What Spike needs is his own group to treat as equals. Not necessarily dragons, but maybe one or two ponies with comparable emotional maturity for him to just hang out with. Heck, having him go crusading with the CMC would make for a good plot. He can almost certainly relate to them better than he can to the rest of the cast.

Agreed, a Spike and CMC episode would be cool.
