Well I suppose it had to happen sometime, might as well happen now.
So what are your favorite and least favorite episodes of the series and why? Discuss favorites and least favorites if you like.
My favorite episode of the series is actually Sisterhooves Social. I enjoyed Sweetie Belle and Rarity's dynamic and characters and thought it was just a very pleasant episode in general.
One of my least favorites is actually Lesson Zero, mostly for the stupid ending and Twilight. I actually don't think it's the worst episode of the show, not even close really, but I do honestly hate it.

Personal favorite is Mmmystery On The Friendship Express, for reasons. Least favorite is...hmmm...Ticket Master, because by now it's been far outclassed. EDIT: A very close second for my personal favorite is Maud Pie, because Maud is my favorite new character of season four, the episode was hilarious and awesome, and also because of...reasons.

Least favorite is...hmmm...Ticket Master, because by now it's been far outclassed. I don't re-warch that one very often. It's really formulaic, more so than usual. It has its moments, though. "Bats on my face!" "Yes, we are just doing this for the ticket." Right now, my favorite episode is Twilight's Kingdom. I've lost track of how many times I've re-watched it. So many great moments, from the awesome to the heartwarming to the heart breaking. Least favorite? Dragon Quest. What a wasted opportunity. What did we learn, really? "Teenage dragons are jerks" and...yeah, that's it. Nothing about Spike's past, or the history of dragons. A poorly-written episode, IMO. I never re-watch it.

Picking a favorite is really difficult, because there are a lots of good ones. "Sisterhooves Social" is definitely up there, as is "A Dog and Pony Show". Rarity has really good episodes.
Least favorite... Probably either "Dragon Quest" due to the wasted opportunity factor, or possibly "Over a Barrel" for just not being very interesting. I'm still split on "A Friend In Deed" which was a great episode aside from the resolution, which basically made the whole thing collapse. If they would've actually followed through on the "you should give people their space" message rather than pulling a Deus Ex Machina to let Pinkie succeed, it would've been one of my favorites.

Ticket Master is a bit of an artifact from when the show was in it's planning phase. I got the feeling the Lauren Faust either didn't expect to be able to do as much she hoped she could or that she would be writing a different show since Ticket Master was the first thing she wrote. It was meant to be a roughly 10 minutes long since she expected the show to be in a two shorts format. At least that's what I remember reading. A very close second for my personal favorite is Maud Pie, because Maud is my favorite new character of season four, the episode was hilarious and awesome, and also because of...reasons. Can I be honest and just ask, why do people like Maud so much? She garners a similar reaction in me as does Pinkie, which is to say not positive.

I think it's mainly because she's a perfect straight man to the rest of the cast and a really good counterpoint to Pinkie while still being similar. She's the opposite of Pinkie in terms of personality, but she has the same "just thinks differently from everyone else" feel. And vaporizing a rock with her hooves probably helped. The fact that she's so deadpan also means she's a relatively different type of character than we commonly get in the show.

A Dog and Pony Show is far from my favorite episode, but Rarity's " This is whining" routine is the moment when I fell in love with her as a character. Hey, Diamond Dogs, your voices aren't exactly pleasant to listen to either.

The fact that she's so deadpan also means she's a relatively different type of character than we commonly get in the show. I guess that goes to explain why I don't like her. Even though their opposites I essentially perceive her to be the same character-wise as Pinkie. Just replace extrovertness with introvertness and parties with rocks and I wonder if obsessive monolithic personalities run in the family. A Dog and Pony Show is far from my favorite episode, but Rarity's " This is whining" routine is the moment when I fell in love with her as a character. Hey, Diamond Dogs, your voices aren't exactly pleasant to listen to either. There is no such thing as a bad Rarity episode. Except maybe Inspiration Manifestation, but that's more of a Spike episode so that doesn't count.

Between Antimony Carver, Aradia Megido, and now Maude Pie, it's become clear that I have a soft spot for overly stoic female characters.
Anyway, on the topic, my favorite is "It's About Time" because internally consistent time travel. And my least favorite is "Owl's Well That Ends Well" because boring.

Well, you probably would. She's pretty stoic as well.

I need to watch Maud Pie again. I loved it, but it's kind of fallen by the wayside.

I need to rewatch most of S4. Haven't gotten a chance to yet.
