Yeah, it's nice. Though what I'm most flabbergasted by is FanOfMostEverything's first comment below the post. He's the author of The Elementals of Harmony, another long fic with a very similar premise to my story. Although his is a crossover, and there are a bunch of differences in how we each executed that premise. But to hear that guy say, "It does everything for Derpy Hooves that I've been trying to do since I joined this site, and it didn't even need card games to do it," is a bit much to take in.

Wait, is that praise they're giving you? Saying that you did a better job of it or made it look easy?

Yeah, praise. He said something similar in a comment on my story itself. I guess he regards the crossover aspect in his own story as a bit of a shortcut, and he's impressed that my story was so good without that shortcut.

I wrote a horror story for an anthology: Six Shadows to Warn You. The anthology has a "Mature" rating, but that's just because of one specific chapter. If you prefer to steer clear of M-rated ponyfics (and I don't blame anyone who does), just skip "You Promised". All the other chapters just have "Everyone" or "Teen" content, I promise. I'm not entirely sure how much horror came through in my story, "Twilight Sparkle and the Strange Case of Old Res", but I'm pretty happy with the results all the same. Another troper, Kuroi Tsubasa Tenshi, wrote "Applejack's Law". I quite enjoyed that. In fact, I think all the chapters have something to offer. Except "You Promised", which is a bunch of dark-n-edgy nonsense.

I read a chunk of your story before work overwhelmed me and I really liked what I read.

"No, Ma'am, Solipsism Is Not Practical" Also, it's probably a bit late to mention this, but I really like the expanded version of Pinkie and Maud's scene.

I published a few more short stories in my odds-and-ends collection: www.fimfiction.net/story/276558/their-variables "The Longest Line" is about alternate universes and the afterlife. "I Am the Night ... Glider" is my story about Night Glider getting her terrible revenge against Starlight Glimmer. "Domains" is about Luna's Moon, Celestia's Sun, and the difficulties of being the Only Sane Alicorn.
