I just got into them last year. Electric was one of my favorite albums of 2013. Half the songs sound like challenges to the current crop of electronic musicians. "You jerks like the 80s? Here's how you do a retro album. Just try to top it, I dare you."

P.S, I like the pet shop boys. I've gotten the urge several times to listen to "West End Girls" on YT.

Yeah, I stopped caring a long time ago about what music is "cool" to like. I got crap back in school for liking some disco songs. The other kids would say, "Disco sucks!" That never effected my enjoyment of what I liked and wanted to listen to, though. Even back then, I liked all kinds of music, and saw nothing wrong with liking something that wasn't popular with the "cool" kids. I look back at the naysayers nowadays and think, "You sucked."
Odyssey's "Native New Yorker," from 1977, is probably my favorite song from the "disco" genre. I bought the same 12-inch single that is played here shortly after the song came out. The 12-inch single, to me, is the definitive version of the song. It has an extended intro and a different (and, IMO, far superior mix) than what appeared on the regular 7-inch 45 and album. The people who re-release this song on CD seem to agree with me: They almost always go for this 12-inch single version.
I can't help but imagine a theater cast dancing to this song under the bright lights of a Broadway show.

Currently I'm listening to the Help charity compilation album. I bought it mainly because it has an exclusive track by The KLF (released under the pseudonym The One World Orchestra because they were supposed to be retired at that time). Whole thing is an interesting time capsule of 1995 European (mostly UK) alternative music. Funny how many of these artists I still recognize, though some of the ones I've never heard of before (like The Levellers) were pleasant surprises. EDIT: Aaaand the last track is a half-hearted cover version of "Come Together". Talk about ending on a whimper. Come on, guys, if you're going to name the album Help and throw in a Beatles cover, the least you can do is make it the right Beatles song: "Tomorrow Only Knows".

I want to hear a cover of "Helter Skelter" that turns it into legit metal. I mean, it's already considered to be kinda proto-metal, so I think it would be interesting to see what happens if they went all the way.
Most recent song I've listened to was this:
As long as I'm around you're going to be getting a lot of prog metal.

The O'Jays did a cool doo-wop/gospel flavored cover of Paul Simon's "Loves Me Like a Rock".
