The main issue with Gilda is that it would be hard to bring her back in a way that would be satisfactory to everyone. Either she gets better, and "Griffon the Brush-off" loses a bit of it's power, or she doesn't and people wonder why she's back. Personally I think the best route would be to turn her into a sort of rival character to Rainbow Dash, similar to what Lightning Dust was in "Wonderbolt Academy". That way they could build Gilda up as having some degree of honor to her (i.e. she's a fair competitor who acknowledges the skill of her opponents) without having RD sweep their past issues under the rug and be friends again. That's the best idea I think.

Yeah, there are people who will be unhappy no matter how Gilda's return is handled.

I've always felt that Gilda had the potential for a better redemption story then practically anyone who has been redeemed save perhaps Luna.
Considering everyone else that has been redeemed leaving Gilda out just seems arbitrary. Though I know it has more to do with her relative unpopularity compared to most antagonist.

I just think the show as a whole is more effective if not every badguy turns over a new leaf. Some people are just jerks, after all.

See, whilst I agree with what you're saying here, I also can't help but think that if the Spirit of Chaos and corrupted Princess of the night can turn over a new leaf, why can't Gilda?

Well, the thing there is that Luna wanted to turn over a new leaf. She realized that she had been terrible and didn't want to do that anymore; and it goes double if you think that the Nightmare Forces influenced her in some way. With Gilda, there's little indication that she wants to change her ways. The only pony she cares about even a little is RD, and even then she bailed when it became evident that she'd have to change her behavior to hang out with RD. It's not that Gilda can't be redeemed, it's that she'd need a reason to turn over a new leaf; I don't want her to just show up and be all "oh, I've seen the error of my ways and I'm nice now." It's a tougher process than that.

I'd like to see Babs Seed again. Heck, let's have a whole episode about the Manehattan branch of the Cutie Mark Crusaders.

Or the CMC visit Babs in Manehattan.

I think that would be a great idea too.
I'm also looking forward to seeing what happens with RD's Wonderbolt arc.

I'd like Celestia to ask Twilight if she thinks there will ever come a time when Twilight will consider her a friend and equal, rather than somepony Twilight puts on a lofty pedestal.

On a similar note, I hope that Twilight's role as Princess of Friendship also means she'll be acting to bridge the perceived disconnect between the Princesses and the common ponies.

Now I want to see an episode about that, where Twilight tries to organize some sort of really informal Meet-and-greet with the princesses, only for everyone else to treat it as some really highbrow event. So they eventually end up having like a cider-tasting or something.

I'd love to see the Princesses getting hammered at that, but unfortunately it's not gonna happen in the show itself (at least not on-screen). To the fanfic-mobile!
Drunk Luna from that one CDRW fanfic was really hilarious. I just need to see how Celestia would react. And considering that she's already less formal than Luna is, she'd probably drink even more than Luna would...

Either that or Celestia's personality does a 180 when she's drunk and she becomes really somber and cynical.
