If the show ever does bring up Las Pegasus, I can see the writers focusing on the stage performers (ie, Trixie) instead of the gambling aspect.

New headcanon; thanks to the IDW comics, I believe that Fancy Pant's dad is called Fancy Schmancy.

That wouldn't surprise me.

Some out there head canon to come;
guns (that is to say, crude flintlock or percussion cap types) exist in the FIM universe but they are completely and utterly banned within Equestria by royal degree, with very serious consequences for anyone caught with one. I know this probably goes against my desire to keep FIM lighthearted but dash did mention bullets...and they do have party cannons...
Also, in contrast to most fantasy settings, guns are actually pretty powerful. I like to think that the reason they are banned is because they are very dangerous weapons by FIM standards.
Am I going too far?

I honestly don't think guns smaller then a cannon really makes sense for ponies. Outside of unicorns none of the other ponies could effectively use them, and even then I think that a long bow would simply be easier for them to use and fire more rapidly.

Maybe this is just because I'm an American, but I think that if really effective guns existed on ponyplanet, then someone out there will want to use them in defiance of all the moralizing to the contrary. And someone else will see the demand, and make guns for them. And once criminals or enemy soldiers start carrying guns, the Equestrian police and Equestrian Armed Forces need to escalate force as well—either carry guns of their own, or use heavy-hitting magic to neutralize the guns.
Maybe guns do exist, but they aren't very effective. And the reason they aren't very effective is that Celestia has foreseen how much damage could happen, and she's strictly forbidden any further research into that field.

My main thing is that I can't really see the ponies ever having a need to develop those types of weapons. Artillery stuff is possible because it would be useful on a large scale, but stuff like flintlock guns probably wouldn't ever get popular enough to supplant bows and arrows as the common ranged weapon. Because let's face it, early guns ''sucked''. But when 1/3 of the population has magic, 1/3 can fly, and 1/3 has super-strength, weapons development will follow a different path.
Also, the ponies regularly survive stuff that would instantly kill a human in real life; guns might not even be that effective.

These are good points...I think I need to rethink this issue. I think I was seriously violating my own rule too when it comes to FIM stuff; that is, keeps it light hearted.

I don't know. Elmer Fudd proved that guns can be light hearted.

By the way, on Crystal Ponies earlier, I do see them as a separate tribe from earth ponies. Though similar. I mostly see them as having light and emotion based magic, among other stuff. I could quote from my fanverse bible if you want.

Ahoy hoy Sereg. Nice to have you on board. I hope you enjoy yourself around here. I've come to regret all that nonsense I said about guns. Quote away from your fanverse too btw.

Now I'm reminded of the backstory stuff that I've come up with for my original stuff.

Thanks for the welcome!
Well, this is what my fanverse bible says about crystal ponies:
Crystal ponies are the smallest and second youngest tribe of ponies, only recently (biologically speaking) having split off from earth ponies under rapid evolution which resulted from isolation and extensive exposure to the Crystal Heart. They are similar enough that their magic is mostly the same as earth ponies, though they specialise more in crystals and emotions. Their own bodies happen to be crystalline, which makes them less vulnerable to certain types of injuries, such as cuts, but more brittle, which results in the injuries they do receive tending to be more severe. They are also unusual in that their entire body structure alters with their emotions and they actually glow when in a good enough mood. The youth of the tribe seems to have resulted in their potential not having been fully absorbed by the alicorns yet. That said, they gave rise to an alicorn themselves in the form of the Crystal Queen. She was eventually assassinated by a guest who would later become known as King Sombra. Ironically, some had previously criticised her for keeping the crystal ponies isolated from the other tribes.
Crystal ponies, until recently, lived exclusively within the Crystal Empire. Now that Cadance has been placed on the throne, she has decided to encourage some genetic variability and admixture by encouraging immigration from and emigration to Equestria in order to allow for some mixed families to form.
One of the antagonists from my current fanfic is actually an undead crystal pony doctor.

Carrot Cake has a brother who works as a janitor, and his name is Urinal. ...I'm sorry.
