So it's finally out. I'm planning to see it asap. We can talk about it here, but beware of spoilers!

All I'll say now is...it's gewd. OK I'll say more. The other Star Wars movies are pretty black and white in their morals but this one is a shade of grey.

Seen it twice now, and I will agree that it is an excellent film.
One very minor nitpick, in that one place, they have these giant vault doors that lead the way to where you access certain sensitive information, which you do by controlling some sort of robo-mechanism in a closed room. Now, which idiot designer needs to be force-choked for adding these comparatively flimsy side doors that lead directly to the data drives themselves, completely bypassing the vault doors that I would assume could be sealed shut in a lockdown scenario?

I better put a warning in the title for spoilers, because can I talk about Darth Vaders two scenes? Because holy shit! And I never realised that about the doors. I wonder if that was overlooked in the rewrites?

Great! Got any favourite moments? What's your opinion on the cgi characters?

I liked the fact that even The Empire suffered from typical office politics. Particularly how the Death Star was "Tarkin's project" when it worked right, but "Krennic's project" when there were delays or security problems. Also the look at a large-scale Empire vs Rebels fight, without any main characters with plot armor.
CGI Tarkin was a little distracting, mainly because his face moved a little too much. But I think it was because I knew beforehand about him and was LOOKING for off details. I didn’t have any problem with CGI Leia, and I wasn’t expecting her.

Just got back from seeing this, finally. I really enjoyed it. It struck a good balance between being a standalone story and tying into the larger mythos. The action sequences were great, and the characters were pretty interesting as well.
I agree with Meta on CGI Tarkin; he was slightly distracting, but I was sort of watching really closely, so I might not have noticed otherwise. I really liked how the last few minutes tied in with the start of A New Hope. That said, given recent events, Leia's cameo was really bittersweet. I know it wasn't intended as such, but it ended up feeling like a sort of tribute moment.
It was also cool how they managed to explain the blatant weakness in the Death Star in a way that made sense.
And yeah, Darth Vader absolutely owned both of his scenes. Which is something he really needed after most of his exposure in modern Star Wars movies being a bit a of a whiner. It's great to see him being intimidating and badass again.
@kyler: Yeah, that's kind of weird. My guess is that there might have been other security measures outside those flimsy doors that Krennic had access to due to his high clearance level or something. It's still not stellar design, but there are ways of explaining it.

I'd like to think that living through a couple of traumatic experiences kind of knocked the whiny kid attitude out of him.
Also, I never noticed Tarkin was CGI in either of the times I watched. How do you even tell?

He moves very slightly differently from the other characters. He's never really still. Honestly it wasn't the comparison with the actors that I noticed so much as it was different from how he moved in the original trilogy.

It wasn't that Tarkin looked specifically like CGI. He just looked a bit different from Krennic when they were both on-screen together. The one thing that stood out to me was that his face muscles twitched a bit too much, especially around his mouth.
As much as everyone hates on the Special Editions, I wouldn't mind if Disney put out Rogue One: Special Edition in five or ten years with updated CG on Tarkin. With how much the tech has advanced, the CGI might be indistinguishable from the real thing by then.
Another thing I particularly liked about this was how the movie kept everything interesting even though it deliberately de-escalated the stakes relative to A New Hope. We see a less-destructive test firing of the Death Star, and it's still tense as hell and visually stunning. Proof that you don't need to crank up the stakes to make a followup movie more interesting.

Yeah, the test-firings were, if anything, more terrifying than the one from A New Hope. Being shot from the perspective of the person getting hit by the beam has a way of doing that.
Also, I honestly don't mind the special editions that much. There are a few things that annoy me (The infamous Han/Greedo scene, the needless extra scene with Jabba, and inserting Hayden Christensen into the end of ROTJ), but the vast majority of the changes really aren't an issue. If they'd fix those three things I'd have no complaints.
CGI issues aside, I actually liked Tarkin's expanded role. It was very consistent with how he acted in the original, and he really comes across as menacing. I also like the nice touch in how he ultimately screwed himself over by blowing up Scarif: if he hadn't blown up the facility, he might've realized what they were after and been able to keep the rebels from destroying the Death Star.
